Curious about the people behind our Ingenious solution? We would be. That’s why we will be introducing you to our team in our new segment, Employee Spotlight.

To kick start the series, we are shining the spotlight on Dr. Gijsbert Pols, a familiar face on our Ingenious blog. That’s right – we recently celebrated his achievement and the change in his title just a month ago. In fact, our colleagues even put together a playlist of doctor-related songs when he returned.

Meet Gijsbert!

Employee Spotlight - Dr. Gijsbert PolsHi Gijsbert, tell us – how did it feel to receive your Dr. title?

Well, the most ecstatic moment was when I successfully defended my dissertation in November 2013. In most countries, I would have received my title immediately afterwards, but in Germany you have to wait until your dissertation is publicly accessible. So I had to complete my dissertation, find a publisher, do proof reading … pretty wearisome business. But now it is done and I could pick up my diploma. All in all, it was a big relief.

Can you also explain what you do as Business Coordination Manager at Ingenious Technologies?

My main job is knowledge management. On the one hand, I’m making sure our clients know how to work with our product: I’ve created our online support center, for example, and recently implemented our new ticket system. On the other hand, I’m translating the client’s experience with our product to product improvement. This can involve UX improvements, but I’ve also written concepts for new features. Besides knowledge management, I also do quite a bit of operational work.

And what does working at Ingenious Technologies mean to you?

It’s pretty intense! So far, I have not met colleagues whose main priority is keeping their own desks clean. To the contrary, we have a team with strong personalities who are all very committed to getting our clients and their businesses forward and delivering technology that is as ingenious as our company name suggests it to be. That makes work very vibrant.

Where is your favorite spot in Berlin?

Tempelhof, the former airport in the middle of the city that is now a park. It gives a sense of magnitude and freedom you rarely experience in a city. And there is this small Anatolian grill restaurant just around the corner from where I live …

What are your goals for the next years?

I would like to attribute my part to the growth of Ingenious Technologies, as the person who takes three steps back and looks at our product from a broader perspective. For my personal life, I’d like to do a lot of hiking, preferably in the mountains. And perhaps, if I find the time, write another book. No dissertation this time, but something nice and easy.

Thank you for your time, Dr. Pols!
